you know that song by Jon Mayer?

daughters by Jon Mayer

I know a girl
She puts the color inside of my world
She's just like a maze
Where all of the walls all continually change
And I've done all I can
To stand on her steps with my heart in my hands
Now I'm starting to see
Maybe it's got nothing to do with me

Fathers be good to your daughters
Daughters will love like you do
Girls become lovers who turn into mothers
So mothers be good to your daughters too

I attended the Kitten Reunion over the weekend and had the opportunity to witness relationships at their best. You know...when you've been apart for weeks, months, even years and then come together and you spend that "honeymoon" period liking each other again? The kids play together for hours before they are sick of each other and the fighting starts. The adults all play catch up and eat way too many deserts and talk about the past, talk about their hopes and dreams. Yeah, they complain a bit too.

It made me miss my Mom, my Granny, my sister. Made me want to see them all right now and hug them and just be with them. In the same room. Saoking up their presence. They are in California and I'm here, in West Texas hanging out with the Kitten Family. hmmm...

kelley + cary

I first met Kelley and Cary at Jake and Trish's wedding in Jamaica. Cary spent much of our first impression spread out on a lounge chair. It suited him well.

They were married in a lovely ceremony full of laughter and tears a couple of weekends ago. You can see a sneak peek at the link listed below. I think this was the first wedding I have photographed where the bride and groom kissed at least 10 times before the "I do's." Talk about not being able to wait!

Congratulations you two!

nicole + casey

Spent a very emotional, yet amazingly fun weekend in Midland, Texas. Some refer to this area of our world as "the armpit of Texas". I did not find it to be so at all. Everyone was absolutely wonderful, nice and most important, wickedly witty! (You know who you are!)

I'll have a sneak peek up soon, but for now, this one image will have to do.

Last dance of the night, and I don't think they could have held on any tighter.

finally

Wow! I would have loved to look like this when I was a senior in HS. And have this sort of presence in front of the camera.

I gave you a sneak peek the other day, but wanted to show you a bit more. It was also to test out the new template for this blog. It's been changing from day to day until I find a fit the fits me. Thinking I love this red!

california

life gets incredibly crazy at times.

I'm busy photographing Slaton Little League on top of my other photography responsibilities. What I really want to do is go to the beach and hang out with my kids. Just lose myself for a while. But I can't. Libby needs proofing, I so need to finish Amanda and Ware's wedding and my youngest daughter has a report due on...get this...CALIFORNIA. I think that's what is bothering me. We both want to escape a little and shrug off our responsibilities.

In due time...

someone once told me "that is what Summer is for".

libby

session date: 5.3.05
location: Ave. E and Broadway and a few other places in betweeen
bravery level: pretty darn good, considering the rain, and the chill factor of 60 degrees or so

I don't quite have the "sneak peek" complete, but didn't want her to wait moment longer. I know Mom is anxious to see these since she couldn't participate in the session. Libby is a 2005 Graduate who is wonderfully mannered, yet cute and sassy all rolled into one.

Good Luck with life. Roll with the knocks and make the most out of the lemons. Including the frogs you have to kiss along the way.

kalyn marie

when they laugh like this! It tickles the heart strings. Such a great kid!

I spent a small part of my day yesterday, too small, with my oldest daughter Kalyn Marie. I'm so proud of her and her wonderful God Loving Heart. She was my "test subject" while I waited on Father Michael. I think I'll let her tag along more often.
