seattle

We landed yesterday back in Lubbock at 2:20 PM and even though it was sad for the "mini vacation/birthday celebration" to be over, it was good to be back in Lubbock. I have so much to do and catch up on this week! But I wanted to share my "favs from Seattle", so here I am, BRINGING IT ON!

I took photos with the iphone and my 5d. I was very impressed with the iphone and just love the idea of touting one electronic on walks and such. See if you can pick them out, as obviously the first one, is iphone of us on the plane.

Steph was nursing some major sinus trouble this weekend. It didn't keep her from keeping up with the flow of the trip at all, but I'm sure it was miserable for her a time or two.

We watched some episodes from Season 3, Grey's to prepare for the season opener.

I think the thing I love most about Seattle or any major city, is the architecture of the buildings and just the access of the city itself. Not all are laid out as nicely as we had it, but we could literally find anything we needed (except Target) in just a city mile. Seriously.

Seattle is a port city and that means, seafood and LOTS of boats.

But here's why we were here! Yep! Mc Dreamy himself!

All the moisture in the air yields amazing flowers EVERYWHERE!

We spent most of the weekend WALKING everywhere! Obviously this is a shot taken of the first day of walking, because I never took another like this again, i don't think. Probably because of all the heavy breathing fogging up my lens. LOL Talk about staying in shape! Maybe this is why most of Seattle is looking good and fit.

We found a little antique shop right by the dock so we went in and looked around. Very cool.

The Public Market is just nearby and I took quite a few photos of all the colors and sites there. LOVED the public market and how you could literally (except for underwear) find everything you need.

The original Starbucks. Yep. But there's another coffee shop in town called Seattle's Best, and you know what? I like theirs better! You could find a Starbucks every 60 feet, but I LOVED the coffee from Seattle's Best.

My Dad and Stepmom called while we were on the plane, and I know this could NEVER happen EVER unless we planned it ahead of time, but he was in town (he lives in KY) for the Washington USC game and we actually got to see them! How cool is that!

Ahh...my new favorite coffee cup, courtesy of Julie and Stephanie. How fun!

This is a MONKFISH. I know, very gross and ugly creature. He lives on the bottom of the ocean, or at least in the vicinity because the dude eats lobster full time. I took this photo AFTER I dined on his brother at Brooklyn's. Monnkfish tastes wonderful, as you can imagine based on his diet. But seriously. If I had seen this before, I'm not sure I would have ordered him. LOL

Stephanie has a slew of images in her camera too. After I get a disc, I'll try and post some more. IN the meantime, BACK TO WORK!

Thanks, Stephanie and Julie for doing this with me. I had so much fun!

Seattle

I turn old very soon. A BIG fat marked occassion where I just won't be able to NOT CRY I'm sure. So, to "celebrate", I'm going to Seattle. Yep. Random choice I know, but I've never been and neither had the girls that are going with me.

So, we leave soon, but as always I will take TONS of photos and post them for everyone to share in the trip.

and be sure and bookmark the gallery! This is where I will post all my iphone photos from my trip.

As always, I will be checking email and voice mail and even doing some work on the macbook while I'm gone.

Happy Birthday to me! (it isn't officially until Oct. 21st, but I have a wedding that weekend, so, I'm celebrating early!)

Happy Birthday, HOPE!

This little munchkin turns 2 today! She's my sister's last child and is full of energy and wonder and speed.

We love you Hope Cheryl Lovold!

chris + rob

We had the most amazing sky tonight! Yes, it rained, but it simply washed off the dirt in this field and produced some amazing clouds tonight and a rosy sun so pretty, I wish I could capture it for my couples EVERY night! Just lovely!

This couple (Chris and rob) is getting married next year and tonight we shot their e-session and chased the rain all the way to Woodrow and Slide. It was a great night for photography and I'm so glad this worked out so well. I enjoyed my Saturday night!

Thanks you two and I'm so excited for you both! (and me for photographing you...)

lonestar team photos

Check out the Lonestar 94!

This is the team my daughter, Kalyn plays for. They look AWESOME! Last night we photographed their team photos and despite the full sun, I love the colors in this photo. Great Job, Ladies!

inspiration

It's a CYBER sista topic and I so want to keep up with things this go around that I'm not gonna miss this!

TOPIC: Who in your life has inspired you or do you consider to be your hero? Tell us a little about this person(s).

Myrtle Laverne Helton

My maternal Grandmother, or Granny Helton to me. She is the most fabulous person I know. And the reason I'm a Christian, I'm sure.

She raised 4 girls along with my Papaw and has a slew of stories she can share about the Depressions, raising 4 girls, and living with my Papaw. She rode a train as a young bride and had absolutely nothing growing up.

I love my Granny for her love of the Lord and her strength as a woman. She lives by herself in Madera, CA and is legally blind, yet emails everyone in her family every day. She laughs all the time and can always find the Lord in every situation.

"We have always been a nation dedicated to God and now they have put Him out of every thing and we are going to experience things that other world countries have had. We just have to draw closer to God and not be afraid."
September 2007, in an email

The pictures below are of Granny and my mom and me in Las Vegas, NV. We were staying together during my cousin's wedding and we had such a great time laughing and enjoying each other.

I love you Granny!

cooper homecoming

I love that Kalyn and Summer are now to the age where they can take photographs with my camera and I don't have to feel my blood pressure rise from the nerves! LOL This weekend is Cooper Homecoming weekend and we went to the Junior High Ball Games to watch Kash and Braxton play. It was tons of fun and even managed to make it to the Fireworks Pep Rally the High School Booster Club Sponsored. It was AWESOME!

Cute, cute, mascot! She did an AWESOME Job!

Payton Hurst, shaking her spirit filled head! The 7th Grade Cheerleaders are led by my friend Kelley Ehler, and they are so good. I was very impressed and all of them were super cute! But of course, I'm partial to this one.

Kalyn and her friends. I know Rebekah, standing next to her and Danielle in the red tank top, but the rest? No idea! I'll have to have her tell me later. Geez...horrible mother I don't even recognize her friends.

Braxton and Bryce getting pumped for their game.

Standing next to Braxton is the 7th Grade B QB, who's name I don't know. Another "geez" moment, and then Mr. Ehler, Bryce's Grandpa.

9th Grade Cheerleaders. I didn't get to watch them, so I have no report. Maybe next week?

Ahhhh! Megan McGehee. Isn't she absolutely adorable!
And Hollywood! (my nickname for Drew McGehee.) LOL

This boy is destined for STARDOM! Very imaginative and not afraid to show it! I could stand around and watch Drew for hours.

Mayci, watching her bro play some f-ball.

It was a great show! I know they did this because of the construction and all, but I hope they do this always. It was a great HEART Pumping show to get everyone fired up for tonight!

GO PIRATES!

dalton and kate (week two)

Wednesdays are quickly becoming our favorite day of the week! In fact, when Barbara (Kate and Dalton's Grammie) called to say she could get them today, as they were spending the night with her anyway, I was bummed. (Garett, their dad is gone on a trip and she's been keeping them.) I begged and pleaded and told her how disappointed the girls would be, and even threw in the inticing, "you need an afternoon off", and after some discussion, WE GOT TO KEEP THEM Again!

YEAH! We LOVE Wednesdays!

While waiting for the girls outside Cooper Jr. High, they played around in my car and I remembered how I needed to share with Elizabeth's Family how the little ones are doing. I quickly grabbed the camera I keep stashed in the back (always important for photographers on the go) and we had ourselves a mini photo session. TRANSLATION, Dalton photographed me and Kate, and then Kate photographed Dalton.

His permanent teeth made their appearance and it sure is going to change the way he looks! He's such a cutie pootie that I don't think it will matter, but golly it takes a while to grow into those things. For those readers that don't personally know, Mr. Dalton, just let me tell you how much this guy likes to "figure" things out. Oh, my! He was fiddling with everything within reach and had my sun roof mastered in 2 seconds. Do you know how long it took me to get it right? You have to feel the "drag" to know when to stop pushing our you end up opening up just the back flap part. Seriously he did it effortlessly within 2 minutes.

show off

Once Kalyn arrived, Kate was all smiles! These two are really bonding and it's such a good esteem builder for Kalyn Marie! Kate got her haircut last week while staying with the Grandbury cousins and looks so adorable! I had to share this shot from behind.

Kate loves to wash dishes. She did this last week too. I had forgotten how much they love to do this at this age. She ate her after school snack of cereal and banana and then asked me if she could wash her dishes. SURE! I'll never turn down kitchen help. And Daton? He helped me feed the dogs and we talked about guns, and how his daddy owns 13 and how his BB gun can kill dove.

yeah, I really added alot to that part of the conversation. HELLO! I so need to read up on things he is interested in so I can at least fake about my knowledge of all things that seem so "Eddie Bauer" or "LL Bean". LOL

After Dalton kicked some team's ass in Playstation College Football, (he is always the Red Raiders) they wanted to play "Freddie the Fish" which they are so good at! It's a great computer game for kids that we've had for a decade at least, but it still works. Check out the "cheesy leave us alone and let us play smiles" they had for me. Showing me the LOVE!

Okay, these are hilarious! Dalton has "teeth" until his others grow in.

Until next week!

courtney + justin (THE WEDDING)

Stephanie and I were in top form over the weekend! We were shooting NINJA stealth like, and shot some amazing photos for our wedding couple! We didn't piss off any church coordinators, nor did we give grief to the DJ. Overall we were good girls who got some good images. We had a blast!

We started the day at the Harvest Cafe in Midland, which I highly recommend even though I didn't taste their food. I just loved their decor! (You can see more images on Courtney and Justin's online gallery, even though the complete gallery won't be live for almost one month.)

Church: First Presbyterian Church, Midland
Minister: Dusty Thompson
Wedding Coordinator, Vicki Chase
Florist: Chris + Tom, Flowerland

DJ: Clyde
Baker: Doris Muehlbrad
Caterer: Brad Miller, Petroleum Club

I don't have much time to share the "story" here, because my oldest daughter just called and she is desperately needing Mom to bring her the forgotten books from today. So, running out the door, but wanted to share the sneak peek up from the weekend!

Fabulous wedding!

Stephanie's shots are listed with a copyright BELOW the image. FYI

lonestar season opener

This is Mercedez and Kalyn. They have been friends for almost 1/2 their lives and the 16th was Mercedez's 14th Birthday! YEAH! I was so glad we ran into them and got to give them hugs and visit and catch up on their lives. That's one of the best parts about soccer is the friendships you make and keep through the years.

Kalyn's team had their season opener yesterday against the "Baby Lonestars", which I keep saying we can't call them that anymore and need to refer to them as Lonestar 95. (Kalyn's team is Lonestar 94). It was a great game! And for a season opener, the girls did GREAT! Sure, there were mistakes made, but hey, life is full of them, and it's how you handle the mistakes and the learning that comes with them, that builds character and GREAT teams.

Way to go Lonestar!

courtney + justin (rehearsal)

I'm home from Midland and enjoying my family. Kalyn had a soccer game yesterday and my youngest is sick with a cold, but it felt good to be home!

I wanted to share Courtney and Justin's wedding rehearsal from Friday night before I post the amazing wedding I got to be a part of! Midland sure knows hospitality! I was treated exactly like a guest and just had a great time. The church is a wonderful place for amazing light and details and the place they held the dinner just had such a festive mood, that several guests kicked up their heels and celebrated!

Tune back later today for the wedding "sneak peek".

alyson and matt

I photographed Allison and Matt last night before the rehearsal. I'll be quick because I'm headed out to meet Courtney this morning, the bride for today. But I wanted Allison to have her "sneak peek" and I added a cute little slideshow my friend Stephanie told me about. Be sure and check it out!

Thanks, Alyson and Matt for braving the weeds, wind and heat! I hope you love them! The first one is my favorite!

* FYI edited on new macbook so the shots may look a bit different. I haven't quite figured this booger out.

heading to Midland

I'm so excited! I've been looking forward to this wedding for quite some time. Not that it is any more special than other weddings I've photographed, but ever since meeting this couple back in March, I've just loved the idea of photographing their wedding! I have lots of ideas in my head to try and do, and hopefully will have enough time with just the two of them to do those. We shall see!

So, out of town this weekend, but as always I will have the macbook with me and my phone so give me a call if you need me. And just because I'm incapable of blogging with out a photo, check out what the girls made me this past month.

YUM!

dalton and kate (week one)

Dalton and Kate update.

I started helping out with these two after school and wanted to give everyone an update as to how they are doing. I'm asked by blog readers all the time as their Mom, Eli really touched alot of hearts.

I'm happy to report they are doing GREAT! I'm sure it hasn't been easy on everyone involved in their care the past month or so and especially Garett, so continue to pray, folks!

But gosh, these two were so much fun!

Summer was a big help, her and Kate made salt dough and while they were creating amazing things, Dalton was heavily into Texas Tech and Nebraska on the Playstation 2. LOL

Oh, and he lost his front teeth! Last Friday when I saw him, one was hanging by a "thread" and he lost it over the weekend. During a time out in the game I managed to get a close up for you Austin Folks! (shout out to Amy, Richard, Tammi, and Pam! WE love and miss you guys!)

another BEDNARZ birthday dinner!

We are getting good at this!

Kalyn's birthday always gets lost in the Labor Day Shuffle and I hate that, but to help, we decided to have Chief, Grandma and IdaLee over for dinner to celebrate and give Kalyn her gifts. Devin cooked a mess of ribs and I trimmed it out with some yummy sides.

fresh green beans with butter sauce
corn soufle
whipped potatoes

Kalyn's choices of course. Except for the soufle, I threw that in last minute when I thought we wouldn't have enough potatoes! I can never judge that right.

The girls helped get the house in order for the party and then I found them in their rooms enjoy the clean-ness. LOL

Kalyn, however, took a nap! Which was great for her!

Okay, this laptop is so much fun. I know I said I would share some photos, and I will, soon! But this was soooo funny! Even IdaLee got in on the fun and our tummies were hurting from laughing!

Davida, Kalyn and Idalee

Kalyn and Chief

Okay, I swear I did not turn my child onto Urkel, but Urkel she has become and apparently when I'm editing away at my computer, these kids are quickly becoming obsessed with this guy! And Summer does a mean impression! Voice wise especially. So, she stayed in character the majority of the party and had everyone laughing....well, except me. That dude gets on my nerves! But it was my adorable child, so a snicker or two escaped me.

Yummy Bananas Foster Ice Cream Cake! It was sooo good! Bought at Market Street on Quaker and 98th.

Okay, after I realized all my shots were stinking pretty bad due to light, I whipped out the off camera flash and we played.

Ahhhh...something for Mommy to borrow when she flies to all those weddings! LOL

Devin and his Mom.

Ida Lee gave Kalyn dominoes and I thought this was extra special due to Kalyn's remark about "drinking Dr. Pepper and burping". Yep. Great traditions are passed down in this Bednarz Family. LOL

Birthday Girl and Dad.

Me and Summer in a self portrait attempt.

Birthday girl and worn out Mom. Geez...can someone say "make up"?

Happy Birthday, Miss Marie! I love you so.

elizabeth and daniel

Just look at that smile! That's Elizabeth. She is always such a happy person every time I see her. And her wedding day was no exception. I first met her over a year ago. Her and Daniel and I met and discussed everything they had planned about their day and how photography was so important to them.

Well, life through them a fast curve ball, because a few months later, while shopping for her amazing dress, Elizabeth discovered she was expecting! Oh, my! And was much further along than she could ever imagine. So, wedding date number one was tossed and a new date became #1 priority. Her due date.

They go married in a wonderful little ceremony back in April, (click here, I was there!) And then a few weeks later, brought Audrey into the world.

Well, Saturday they were married again, before their friends, family, priest and church in a lovely ceremony at St. Elizabeth's in Lubbock. Despite a few nerve wracking moments due to some musical madness, Elizabeth smiled TONS during the day and managed to make everyone around her smile, too.

They made Audrey a BIG part of their day! It was wedding ceremony, baptism and then a wonderful barbecue to show off the couple's new home, including many family and friends.

Over all, a great celebration! Thanks, both of you for giving me this opportunity to document all these important days in your new family. Audrey's absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to see you again next month!

Here's your sneak peek!

What else but a hand massage for the bride to be. This looks so good and wonderful, I was tempted to stay and get one myself to help with all those pictures I needed to take. LOL

I love detail shots and Elizabeth's veil was no exception. The edge was adorned with small beading and it added just enough weight to her blusher. Lovely. And then, Rebbecca, Elizabeth's sister had a lovely set of pearls she wore. Funny story, Rebecca's plane was extremely late arriving the night before, due to weather, but make it she did! However, her luggage? Nope. Didn't arrive until that morning. YIPES! Her bridesmaids dress was in her luggage! Talk about some stress! LOL

Elizabeth loves to talk with her hands too. So much fun and so energetic! I love to watch her talk.

Beautiful day for a wedding!

WOW! Just check out this rock! I seriously would have said YES, too. LOL

Great detail shot of the gown. She purchased this gown many moons ago and was so laid back about it this day. I want all my bride's to be totally laid back like Elizabeth.

What happened next, is why it is so great that Elizabeth is laid back. HA!

Mom carried the gown in and managed to really screw it up dirt wise on one side. Elizabeth was A-OK and just let it rolled right off of her. Mom? Worried sick, but she got it out. She was awesome! Whatever it was, she managed to rub off and you could barely notice at all. I love Mom's nervous smile here in this shot as she wonders, will it really come out?

Baby Audrey arriving to get ready! Such a cutie! You gotta love a kid with rolls, man. Rolls are great!

Oh, my gosh! How could you deny this face? Oh, wow! Talk about baby girl's wrapping their daddy's around their fingers? These lips would have me hooked in a second.

Cool Make up shot. Even putting on make up, with a camera lens inches from your pores, she produces a smile. LOL

This was about the time they were discussing the music for the celebration. I've done this shot before, but never one I've liked quite so well. Just so much fun with Elizabeth's hand motions and Daniels' thought provoking pose.

EDIT: I'm falling asleep as I journal about this wedding. I have to get some sleep! But I promise to add my thoughts tomorrow after my first cup of coffee. LOL

Lotion is important when not wearing nylons. It's important period for girls that shave, and these do.

Daniel watching the girls walk down the aisle.

Elizabeth's Dad was so calming and great. Here he is "encouraging" her down this aisle. I meant to ask Elizabeth what he said at this moment, if she will remember, because I love this shot.

Wow!

a cute moment during their ceremony.

Audrey was GREAT! When she was first handed off down the aisle, she fussed a bit and then I never heard her again. We took this opportunity to fire off a few family shots just inside the church doors. I love this lighting! I call it tunnel light, but what's so pretty about it, is the way it kisses their faces.

And then...

She did AWESOME! Not a peep! And it was a great moment for everyone there, to witness this baptism right after the ceremony.

Yummy shot during the parental blessing.

Elizabeth and Daniel were kind enough, excited enough even, to give me 20 minutes of ALONE time. I LOVED THIS! I think I danced around like a little school girl for a second or two because it gave us a chance to BREATHE and take shots without being rushed.

If you are thinking about your wedding photography schedule, SCHEDULE this! Either between your ceremony and reception, or possibly after the day. SOMETIME, give you two some moments to spend as husband and wife, relaxed and enjoying each other. And then I can photograph it.

Ahh....the smell of searing meat. One of my favorites!

YUM!

Instead of a wedding cake, they opted for mini cakes from Mrs. Camp's. YUM!

Originally, Elizabeth's colors were shades of red, but as the planning went underway, and babies came on board, things changed and she went with a white color scheme with shades of, what else, AUDREY PINK! So, when I saw the red tablecloths, I just had to do this shot.

Sleeping babies make the best hand models. Hello, Johnson and Johnson!

Baby stretches are the BEST!

Coca-cola, cheeseburgers and laughs! Best ingredients at a Yard Reception! LOL

Toasting time!

Okay, Elizabeth and her sister are just months apart, 11 to be exact and very close yet live physically apart from each other almost on opposite ends of the USA. (Alabama and Texas...Okay, so NOT opposite, but it makes the toast more dramatic, so deal.) Well, the front yard toasting was very impromptu and Rebecca was a bit taken off guard, but she came through with flying colors! Very heart felt and emotional and just downright perfect. I loved the unplanned speeches. Those are the BEST! But she couldn't look at Elizabeth when talking so she made her stand behind Daniel. It was the cutest thing!

Look who woke up and joined the party!

Some tossing the old pigskin to send the photographer on her way!

Thanks you two, for your warm hospitality and most of all, for your relaxed atmosphere and joy filled hearts! It was a great day and I'm so glad I go to be a part of it.

See you in a few weeks when we take the first Family Portrait!

I forgot!

Tonight we celebrated Kalyn's birthday and as I was downloading the cards into my PC to share with you all here on my blog, I found Davida's birthday images! I can't blog Kalyn without blogging this one first! I mean, come on!

So, without further ado...

Here's Davida's birthday! We celebrated with barbecue at our house and gave her some really nice lounging outfit. OH, and a cool stamp for letterboxings and a very nice notebook to record all her zany thoughts.

It was a great night!

Happy Birthday, Davida!

Happy Birthday, Mom and Dad!

My Dad and Mom have birthday's just a day apart. Mom is one day older than Dad. (HA! He got an "older woman".) They celebrate their birthdays this month, Mom the 5th and Dad the 6th. I always got them mixed up growing up and now that I have a daughter with a birthday in September, (the 3rd) I will forever forget their BIG DAYS! How horrible is that?

So, here I am, belatedly wishing them Happy Day's but it's the thought that counts, right?

My Mom and Dad were married for 11 years and I had a great childhood growing up in two separate worlds and homes. Dad moved to sunny CA and Mom stayed in the Midwest to be closer to my Grandparents.

They divorced when I was in 4th Grade and we lived with my Mom and saw Dad at Christmas a month every summer. It was tough and as with all "kids of divorce" and I'm still dealing with issues in my life because of decisions my parents made. But overall, I was a happy kid with a happy. They instilled a love of God in my heart, and because of that, I was able to cope when things got tough. They both were always there for me if I needed them. Mom was always waiting on the couch for me when I got home late from work at Sonic and I can remember even crawling into her bed in HS after a night mare. Dad? Just a phone call away.

Anyhoo, even though I didn't know Dad very well growing up, in my adult years I have come to understand and really get to know him better and he's pretty cool. Oh, gosh! Did I just type that? I mean, I've surpassed him in several areas of technology, but I owe my techno passion to him and our Intellevision Football Game we used to play almost the entire month of June. Oh, and music? He had a killer stero that I jammed to Barry Manilow on during my HS summers. Lots of confessions in this post! LOL

I just love the cute adorable photograph of him above and how innocent he looks. I see a lot of my sister's physical appearance in his face and me sometimes, too. Funny how God decides physically what to pass on to children and what not. Check out those teeth! How cute is he?

Happy Birthday, Dad! He now lives in Lexington, Ky, which is where I was born, and is retired. Sort of. He sings professionally, Christian music and even has a CD or 2 that I've actually listened to, despite the fact that he sounds nothing like Barry. LOL

This photograph above is of my Mom and Kim and me sometime back in the late 70's early 80's perhaps? Not sure, but maybe my mom will comment and let me know. Funny thing is, growing up, I never really thought my Mom was cool. You know? Style wise. I just thought I knew everything of course, and not her, but check out Mom's hair in this shot above? Pretty cool, sporting the Dorothy Hamil, Mom. We were living in Joplin, MO at this time so I'm pretty sure I'm in 5th or 6th grade. My sister is so cute! You can see the resemblance in the eyes to my Dad and that cute little smile. It was shortly after this that I was called, "chicken legs" and I so wish I had this nickname now. At the time I hated it, but my legs never touched each other and had a gaping hole when I stood at attention during our cheer leading stance. oops...another confession. I was a HS Cheerleader. Oh, my...

Mom, Happy Day to you too! She now lives in Downieville, CA up in the beautiful mountains.

The Happy Family with their adorable 2 year old that even then, could not focus on the camera. I was more interested in the equipment taking the shot. LOL (Just so you know, I'm the Blondy in the front.)

On a side note, my cousin Mary Ellen passed away this week. She was only 41 and left behind 2 girls. I found these photographs while looking through my millions of images, for a photograph of her. I didn't get to spend a lot of time getting to know her growing up, product of the divorce and all, but I did after we both had children. Everyone take the time today to say a small prayer for her family, and most of all for her girls.

TIP: instead of scanning photos, take a picture of them. These were taken by placing the photo on a solid surface next to a lit window. I used my 24 and probably an f stop of 3.5 or so. Great quick way to share and archive old photographs.

YIPES! She's 14!

I seriously can't believe it. I don't think she really did either. We were standing in the room at Cloudcroft and I was tucking her in bed. (Yep, I still do that!) And she looked so surprised and happy when she told me,

"Mom! It's past midnight! I'm 14!"

I gulped and I swear my heart skipped a solid two or three beats, and when I saw the emotion in her face, I beamed too. Somehow, you just don't think about your babies being full fledged teenagers! They still seem all cuddly and soft and smell like powder. LOL

I'm so proud of her and all the courage she's mustered up through her junior high years! She's such a great young lady, and even if I wasn't related to her, if I met her, I would want to hang out with her. LOL She's just plain fun!

Happy Birthday Kalyn Marie! (we are celebrating on Sunday afternoon as we drove home from the mountains on her actual birthday.)

Sydni, Mayci and Summer all made her this "cake" for her birthday. They made her blow out a daffodil as a candle and sang to her in the forth they created in the mountains. Such a great birthday!

Cooper 8th graders also started their season in Volleyball last night against Terra Vista (Frenship). We won! And Kalyn even played on the front line, which surprised us and a few other folks. And her mother, the "professional" photographer forgot to bring a spare battery and only managed to take a few images. Geez...when will I learn?!

cloudcroft 2007

Just look at these smiles! Sydni, Summer and Kalyn have been attending our Annual Labor Day Warriors Trip FOREVER. Well, actually, Sydni and Summer since birth, Kalyn since the age of 2. This year marked number 12 for us. And it was seriously one of the most fun trips EVER! We didn't have the normal crowd we usually do. I think we counted 29 total, and some years we've pushed 50! But it was so nice to get together with friends and just enjoy each other's presence. I had a great weekend, and despite having no cell phone coverage, nor the use of computers and internet, I stayed sane and even manged to get a bit of work done.

2005
2006

We stay at a place called Waterfall Lodge. It's perfect. Well, not really, but gollly, swans and mountains in the back ground? It's close. We sure could have used better breakfasts for a "bed and breakfast" lodge, but hey, we had each other, so that was enough.

My personal favorite thing to do each and every day. DRINK COFFEE! Devin was such a sweetie and brought me coffee each and every morning. I ended up on the deck most mornings just a sipping away.

The kids are the greatest! Each and every beautiful face here is a BEDNARZ. They look after, play with and basically take care of each other and have a blast doing so!

Summer and Sydni have grown up knowing each other and I just love this picture of the two of them. Cousins to the core. LOL

Keri Bednarz and Annette Jones enjoying the morning along with me.

This is Miss Mayci.

Kalyn Marie sitting on top of the Polaris. She's ready to ride.

My annual photo of Roy and Annette. I do this every year I think. I really need to expand it and photograph everyone there, but some how that doesn't totally feel like a "vacation" to me.

Kalyn and me.

Me and Keri.

Me and Summer Zoe.

This was the BEST! Every year we ride our girls. Devin rides one, me the other and we let the "drive" some of the trails, but for the most part we are there right behind them to help out and save our butts from driving off a mountain. LOL THIS year, Roy brought an extra 4 wheeler. (Jenae was back home, his daughter, winning VOLLEYBALL and we missed you so much!) So, my girls got to RIDE solo. Yep. And I was so proud of them! They didn't hot rod, not that you could on this ride, and they were very cautious, but they did so good!

Roy and his youngest, Jace.

Some of the kids dirt bike and Sydni is no exception. Very tough girl! Love this shot of her chilling on her ride.

Blaine is one of the oldest of the bunch. He's about 2 years older than Kalyn and I got some AWESOME shots of his jumping at the pit. (scroll down) We were going for a serious look here.

TROUBLE with a capital T. Check this little guy out. This is Brady, Sydni's baby brother and "K-K" worshipper. Yep, he loves everything about his older cousin, Kotton Koal Bednarz. He's on the left in this picture below.

The campfire was desperately missed last year's trip, due to all the rain. So, this year we spent TONS of time there. Everyone forgot the stuff to make smores, so the kids basically burned anything they could find instead.

Okay, very cool shot of one of the Bednarz's boys, gear. It reminds me of Robo Cop. LOL

The macbook made several appearances this weekend, with everyone playing with photo booth. I'll share the shots later and they are so funny, we laughed like 7th grade girls on a school bus! My tummy still hurts! Check back tomorrow for those shots.

This is Mayci and her baby cousin, Benjamin. (I think?)

The clan, minus Stephanie, who stayed back with Levi, who I know refer to as "Copper". He's got the cutes copper colored hair and eyes! (in the shot with all the girls and the paci)

Jase Jones and Bryce Ehlers

Okay, this is ANTM. Just check these photogenic girls out! Covered in mud and on the trail, but working that camera!

What do you get when you add 3 guys, 16 beers and a naviagational trail map?

Uh, we never found out.

This is Craig. A new addition to our group and such a great guy!

Robin and her husband Dave. Robin is Craig's sister.

Me! Yep! I was jumping the jelly! (what I refer to as my midsection.) Keri took this shot and I swear I caught some air!

I love this shot! It makes me happy!

Such a great weekend! I had so much fun with everyone and can't wait until next year!

On a "techi note"? All images shown here were with my 24 1.4. Great all purpose lens.

the aspens

I love Aspen Trees.

They are able to survive intense forest fires as the roots are below the heat of the fire, with new sprouts growing after the fire is out. However, aspens do not thrive very well in the shade, and it is difficult for aspen seedlings to grow in an already mature aspen stand. Fire indirectly benefits aspen trees, as it allows the saplings to flourish in open sunlight on account of the burned landscape. Lately aspen has increased its popularity in forestry, mostly because of its fast growth rate and ability to regenerate from sprouts, which makes the regeneration of the forest after harvesting much cheaper, as no planting or sowing is required.

That was copied straight from Wikepedia.com, which I love, but this time let me down. We were talking about what elevation the aspen tree grows at and I know it ain't "west texas elevation". does anyone know? If so, please leave a comment so I can know and record it in my "journal of Labor Day Warriors".

It's my favorite tree. I love the white bark, and the "quaking leaves". I just think it is a symbol of "pure air" to me.

We were in New Mexico this weekend for our 12 Annual Labor Day Warriors Trip. I'll post pictures next, but first.... I had to post the Aspens.

I've been tagged!

Scott Neumyer tagged me. I have to list 8 things you may not know about me. Which is going to be extremely hard since I gab constantly on this blog and my website. Hmm....

1. I bite my nails. Nasty, horrible habit that I'm so ashamed of, and have tried to quit and once did for several years, but started once again. I love pretty nails and those that have them I envy like the dickens. I want them, too. But natural. I did the "fake nail" scene and would sit at the computer and bite those off too. Geez...

2. I hate having a bum ankle and the fact that I can't take back the accident. It would be nice to be able to wear heels. And not that I would, but knowing I can't sucks terribly. My ankle is hugely unattractive and it's just a crying shame. I'm happy I have my foot, don't get me wrong, but at weddings, when all the girls are dancing in those cute heels and the legs look cut from the wearing of the cute heels, I get all crazy and quietly, silently get mad. grrr...

3. I was a preschool teacher and a damn good one. I know how to play all kinds of rhymes and finger games on my fingers and can keep a group of threes occupied for a good part of the day. I love kids! Even my own.

4. I'm a MOVIE FREAK, and would do nothing but sit on my couch and watch movies ALL day, but I'm secretly afraid to nurse my couch potato gene, due to feeling incredible amounts of guilt at all the things that need to be done. AND I own a VIDEO STORE! How stupid is this? I have tons of movies available to me to watch, FREE OF CHARGE. Geez...once a week I should sit down and watch a movie! I mean I buy 100's for the store each month, yet I feel guilty if I ake the time. It must be the Catholic in me. LOL

5. I get tired of floral patterns or any patterns for that matter very easily. And because of this, you will hardly ever see me in a printed shirt or outfit. I'm mostly a solid color girl. I detest wall paper and almost all of the walls in my house are white. I see pretty homes and papers and love what my friends/clients have done, but just can't do it in my own. I'm the same way with logos for my business and website/blog colors and fonts. Like you didn't know that one! LOL

6. I have a "thing" for handbags. A horrible, "I really can't afford that, my girls are starting college soon", kind of thing. I don't buy them all the time, but once a year or so, I will fork over some dough for something I don't need nor will carry very long. And every time I see the Garnet Hill Catalog, I have to throw it away or I will order a bag I don't need. They have the cutest BAGS!

7. I'm addicted to blogs and reading about other peoples lives and what they are doing. And not just a "few blogs" either. I have over 100 on my google reader list and I'm adding new ones all the time. It's an addiction and I'm not in denial, so don't worry. LOL

8. I can play a mean game of four square. I learned when I attended school in sunny CA. It was a good way to meet friends as playing the square was the only thing we did. I was very good at it and still to this day, think I can play. I haven't tried in ages, but who knows. Maybe I'll show up on a playground this week somewhere.

Okay, now I have to tag 8 people. I'm choosing my Cyber Sisters cuz these girls are so good at blogging and I read all their blogs and this will feed my obsession even MORE. LOL so, the following girls, YOU'VE BEEN TAGGED!

Kenda Davies

Kim
Emily Houchin
Stephanie Ehlers
Allyson Wall
Avery Lewis
Amy Smith
Lindsay Lewis

There, my 8 tags. I'll be reading girls, so have at it! Oh, and the pic at the top? Yep. New laptop and we were playin with photobooth over the weekend. Too funny! I will share many, many images soon!
