a saturday at home

and the snow was a major let down compared to what the news said would come. My gosh! I mean, they had folks thinking the world was going to end or something! Bottled water was sold out almost everywhere, the wood place on 1585 was NUTS for days! And I even saw a car in Slaton with chains on their tires! Oh, dear. People go crazy!

I took a walk about today with the girls while lunch was brewing on the stove.

Okay, I am ready to pay a sitting fee just to spend an hour and a half with you teaching ME how to take pictures. You have a great eye, of course but I also need to learn lens and all this other mumbo jumbo. I have a great camera and nothing to do with it. HELP!!

By the way...amazing pictures...as usual!! Come up to Amarillo tomorrow and you can see 10 inches of snow!! Poor Lubbock...that is so crazy that the media made such a big deal out of this storm. WOW! We live just 2 hrs North and no one told us to go get gas and stock up on water and bread. So silly!

Kenda, I know!

Gosh! You don't have to pay me to help. The next time you are visiting family, let me know and I'll give you mini photo session. But seriously, I learned through trial and error. When I say OBSESSED, I was OBSESSED. I read everything I could. I had my camera with me constantly and tried different settings and different fstops, and studied people I admire and what they photographed with.

Hang in there! And besides, the camera is just a tool. It is what is holding it that is making the photograph. And YOU have to know the tool.

First rule of photography.

Read your manual. Boring? Yes. But informative. And do so with your camera in your lap, battery charged and ready as the visual.

I'll email you soon!

Awesome...I think I need to learn which lens I need to purchase first...and then get into aperture, etc. I don't even know what all that means but I know I don't have the time to make a living out of this photography but I would sure love to make it a hobby. We'll get together soon for photography 101 and cocktails. deal?
